Hello PhilipThe camera costs $600, not $900. Somehow you spent too much.Secondly, this is how every camera is marketed nowadays. There's a rather brief quick guide inside the box to start & for people who don't need anymore. I took out my camera out with only the brief instructions & it was enough to test the beast. But there are people who love more details, myself included who need & appreciate more details. We inquire & have the patience to go through 242 pages.
Not everybody does or wants that. So, don't be cross with Nikon. I just bought this camera locally (Turkey) and discovered that there was only a CD included for instructions in Turkish only.
No paper, no quick start guide, no nothing. I am very disappointed as I had preferred at least the original guide in English. (ALL Sony products come with thick leaflets in several languages included!) I just needed to look up how long to charge the battery initially and even for that, I need to load up a CD?Well, to make matters worse, the CD did not even play in my top of the line SONY laptop.

Available for download at US$29.99. Thom Hogan's Complete Guide to the Nikon D810 and D810A explains these terms and accompanying techniques in the same simple, no-nonsense language that made his Nikon Field Guide a best seller. Includes instructions for the SB-500, SB-700, and SB-900/SB-910, including for wireless use. Mastering the Nikon D810 by Darrell Young provides a wealth of experience-based information and insights for owners of the new D810 camera. Darrell is determined to help the user navigate past the confusion that often comes with complex and powerful professional camera equipment.
This is why I am downloading the English manual here now, which I prefer anyhow, since translations into Turkish are usually a horrible and usually faulty mix of both languages intertwined and are harder to understand for me than plain English ones. But if you could provide a link for a Turkish manual as well, eventually, I could keep it for the record, in case ı want to sell the camera in the future.
